Tracking your child’s goals and progress shouldn’t be limited to school updates or periodic IEP reports. Progress happens everywhere—at home, with caregivers, on vacation, and in everyday activities. With our newly enhanced Goals & Progress feature, you now have a more comprehensive and real-time way to track your child’s development.
This update provides:
A centralized dashboard for both school-based IEP goals and at home or personal goals
The ability to log observations beyond school-defined reporting periods
Goal insights that highlight progress, focus areas, and action steps
At-home strategies to support skill-building outside the classroom
Arloa Provides A Clearer View of Goals & Progress
The updated Goals & Progress page makes it easier to manage and monitor your child’s development. All IEP and 504 Plan-based goals are automatically added to your account, ensuring you have a clear view of school-supported progress. However, we know that growth happens in many areas beyond the classroom.
Now, you can manually add goals for any skill you want to track—whether it’s communication, social interactions, self-care, or independent tasks. Even if your child doesn’t have an IEP or 504 Plan, you can still set and monitor goals that matter most to their development. This gives you full control over tracking progress in a way that works best for your family.
Each goal card provides:
The goal summary and target date
Progress status (In Progress, Mastered, Off Track)
The ability to record observations to track progress over time

How to Add a Goal
In addition to IEP goals, you can now create custom goals to track progress in everyday life. These might include communication skills, emotional regulation, or fine motor development.
To add a new goal:
Go to Goals & Progress
Click + Add Goal
Enter a goal summary
Set a progress reporting frequency
Choose a target completion date
Click Save
Enhance tracking by adding manual goals, such as daily reading practice, social skills development, or independent living tasks. These insights provide a fuller picture of progress and help you and your team plan more effectively.
Tracking Progress with Observations
Observations allow you to capture real-time progress beyond formal school updates. Whether it’s a therapist noting an achievement, a teacher providing feedback, or a milestone reached at home, these observations help create a more complete picture of your child’s development.
To add an observation:
Click + Observation
Select the goal it relates to
Enter details, including who observed, when, and what happened
Click Save Observation
Arloa automatically assigns a sentiment score (positive 😊, neutral 😐, or negative 😞) to your observations, shown as an emoji next to each entry.
Observations help you accurately record progress and in return add future insights and trends as your child navigates.
